Writing is the central focus of all the writing courses I instruct. Creative Writing provides students with opportunities to develop their literary talents. Course components: Lectures ; Writing exercises; Creative Writing 101 is for beginners or anyone who wants a refresher. This course includes a study of varied forms of prose and poetry and gives students the experience to write. Creative Writing 101' is an attempt to capture what cannot be held in hand or thought--the elusive riddle of human creativity as we find it in our writing. This can be a novel excerpt or a short story. Students must be 18 years or older. The format of my writing courses consists of discussion, peer workshops, readings by diverse authors, presentations on strategies for writing, and in-class writing exercises. Textbook information in this syllabus may also change. Some instructors design their syllabi to embody course goals; for instance, the syllabus for a typography class might itself reflect design elements that are part of the course. The Syllabus: Creative Syllabi. Syllabi do not have to be simple, typed documents, but can incorporate graphics (photos, comics, designs) and other creative elements. Each student will submit one piece of fiction, ten to fifteen pages for workshop.
